At-home hospital care services

The at-home hospital care services bring the hospital services to the client's home and it is an alternative for hospital care. It is temporary care given according to your condition and consent either at home or at the service point of the at-home hospital care services. A specialist and experienced nurses are responsible for the care of the patient.

The main forms of at-home hospital care include the administration of intravenous medicine, hydration and blood derivatives. Palliative care and terminal care can also be given in the at-home hospital.

The wellbeing services county of Southwest Finland offers this service starting from 1 January 2023.

Requirements

At-home hospital services can be offered if the doctor has assessed the client's suitability and drafted a treatment plan.

The prerequisites are that your condition is stable enough and that the procedures required by the illness can be carried out at home. At-home hospital services can be offered as an alternative treatment form instead of hospitalisation.

User instruction

At-home hospital services require a referral from a doctor. The doctor will assess you are suitable for at-home hospital services and draft a treatment plan. During the period of at-home hospital services, you are a patient of the hospital and can be hospitalised if necessary.
