Speech therapy services

Speech therapy is the rehabilitation of speech, language, communication, swallowing and voice. Additionally, general guidance regarding communication disorders is provided in speech therapy. During the first session, the possible need for therapy as well as the length and start date will be determined.

The wellbeing services county of Southwest Finland offers this service starting from 1 January 2023.

Requirements

A referral is always required for speech therapy. For working age people and older people, the referral can be made at the health centre or at the hospital services. Children and young people can get a referral from the child welfare clinic or the doctor at the school or student health care.
