The contraception clinic aims to promote sexual and reproductional wellbeing for the clients. The contraception and sexual counselling service is provided regardless of gender to Turku residents under the age of 26 or if you belong the wellbeing services county of Southwest Finland and you study in Turku.

The Contraception clinic service includes:

  • The planning and monitoring of birth control
  • Contraception and sexual counselling
  • The insert, swap or the removal of the intra uterine device (IUD) or the implant
  • Counselling and referrals regarding sexual transmitted diseases (STDs)

Free contraception

All individuals under the age of 20 are offered free contraception. Individuals from 20 to 25 years of age are offered one long term contraception method (IUD or implant) and free contraception service. If you are under 20 years old and you have a valid prescription for contraception, please contact our contraception clinic so you can get your contraception conveniently from our vending machine located on our premises.

Sexual counselling

In sexual counselling we talk about sexuality, sex, gender or relationships related issues. You are welcome alone or with your partner/partners. Reception is possible both locally and remotely.

We offer following services regardless of age

  • contraception planning within 3 months after an abortion
  • contraception planning within 2 years after giving birth
  • sterilization matters

You can book an appointment by phone or online booking by e-terveyspalvelut. Appointments at the doctor's reception are always by phone. We use a callback service.

Cooperation entity

Gynecological issues, fertility regarding matters and contraception service for individuals over 26 years are served in the health station, considering exceptions above.

Turku residents under 18 are allowed to go to Paediatric Outpatient Clinic, for example if an adolescent has a need for contraception, suffers from menstrual pain, irregular circulation or another issue regarding menstruation.

Matters regarding abortion are served in Gynecological Outpatient Clinic TYKS.
